The Embraer Legacy 450 brings fly-by-wire controls and a flat-floor stand-up cabin to the Los Angeles midsize market, and it has the longest range in that category by a clear margin. Seven to nine seats, 462 knots and 2,904 nautical miles.
Embraer built the Legacy 450 as a shortened Legacy 500, with full fly-by-wire flight controls, Honeywell HTF7500E engines and a six-foot flat-floor cabin. Seven to nine seats, 462 knots and 2,904 nautical miles of range. It was later rebranded the Praetor 500.

Why the Embraer Legacy 450 Fits Los Angeles
Nearly 2,900 nautical miles makes this the midsize jet that reaches the East Coast from Los Angeles with a working payload rather than a light one. Against a Hawker 850XP or a Citation XLS on the same routing, that is the whole argument.
The flat floor and six-foot cabin height put it closer to a super midsize aircraft in feel than to the midsize jets it prices against. For a Los Angeles to New York leg with eight passengers, that difference is felt for five hours rather than noticed once.
Fly-by-wire is unusual at this size and brings a smoother ride in turbulence, which on the winter transcontinental legs out of Southern California is a real passenger benefit rather than a specification line.

Vetting Behind Every Trip
Every operator, aircraft, and crew goes through our internal due diligence before we present any options. Our internal standards meet or exceed what the FAA requires:
- FAR Part 135 charter operators for traditional private aircraft, or FAR Part 121 for airliner-size and group trips (or the foreign equivalent on international legs)
- Operator subscription to Wyvern and ARGUS reviewed where the operator participates; reports may be provided on request.
- Pilot experience and operator incident history reviewed before we recommend an aircraft.
- Fewer than 60 brokers worldwide hold Premium Wyvern Broker Member status, and Air Charter Advisors is one of them.
Charter Pricing Reference
Industry hourly rates for the Embraer Legacy 450 run $5,000 to $6,500 per hour as of 7/2026. Actual quotes vary by operator, routing, positioning, and date.
The Legacy 450 quotes at the top of the midsize band, and on a Los Angeles coast-to-coast trip the fuel stop it avoids is normally worth more than the premium.
