VIP airliners are how Los Angeles moves a whole organization privately. Eight to one hundred and seventy-two seats depending on the aircraft and its interior, airliner cabin cross-sections, and layouts that run from private apartments to full team seating.
Typical Aircraft
The Airbus ACJ319 and the Boeing Business Jet are corporate airliners configured as living space for eight to nineteen, both with over 5,900 nautical miles of range. The Airbus A318 Elite is the entry point. For capacity, the Airbus A320 carries up to fifty and the McDonnell Douglas MD-83 up to one hundred and seventy-two. The Boeing 757 VIP combines fifty seats with 4,000 nautical miles, and the Challenger 850 gives sixteen people an airliner-derived cabin at business-jet money.
When VIP Airliners Fit the Los Angeles Trip
Sports teams, touring music productions, large corporate groups and full-crew movements out of Los Angeles, plus intercontinental travel where the cabin is the point rather than the transport. Los Angeles hosts major sporting events on a rotating national calendar and the aircraft that move visiting squads are almost always this size.
Vetting Behind Every Trip
Every operator, aircraft, and crew goes through our internal due diligence before we present any options. Our internal standards meet or exceed what the FAA requires:
- FAR Part 135 charter operators for traditional private aircraft, or FAR Part 121 for airliner-size and group trips (or the foreign equivalent on international legs)
- Operator subscription to Wyvern and ARGUS reviewed where the operator participates; reports may be provided on request.
- Pilot experience and operator incident history reviewed before we recommend an aircraft.
- Fewer than 60 brokers worldwide hold Premium Wyvern Broker Member status, and Air Charter Advisors is one of them.
Charter Pricing Reference
Across the 16 VIP airliners listed on this page, industry hourly rates run $8,000 to $45,000 per hour as of 7/2026. Each aircraft page carries its own rate. Actual quotes vary by operator, routing, positioning, and date.
Los Angeles Patterns We Plan Around
Awards season runs January through March and it is the single biggest pressure on Southern California charter availability. Van Nuys and Hollywood Burbank get picked over first, and a January request made in December is a very different market from the same request made on the day. Coachella in April does the same thing to Palm Springs. Van Nuys operates a jet noise curfew for louder aircraft between roughly 10pm and 7am, while Ontario runs 24 hours with no curfew, which is why so many late departures end up there.
Airliner-size charter would no longer fall under FAR Part 135 standards but would possibly operate under FAR Part 121 or foreign equivalent standards. We confirm which applies before an aircraft this size goes in front of a client. Field choice is limited by size and noise, so Los Angeles International at 12,923 feet and Ontario at 12,197 feet are the practical departure points.
