Cessna Citation Mustang 510

The Citation Mustang is the smallest jet Los Angeles Private Jets will put in front of a client, and it earns its place on short, thin routes where a bigger cabin would be money spent on air. Four passengers to Las Vegas, NV or Palm Springs is exactly the trip it was built for.

Cessna certified the Mustang as a very light jet with two Pratt and Whitney PW615F engines, a four-to-five-seat cabin and single-pilot approval. Cruise is 340 knots and range is 1,150 nautical miles, both of which sit below the CJ-series numbers and are reflected in the hourly rate. Every Cessna Citation Mustang CE-510 we arrange flies with an operator certificated under FAR Part 135, the FAA rules for on-demand, for-hire charter.

Why the Cessna Citation Mustang CE-510 Fits Los Angeles

Its size is the point in Los Angeles. Small jets get into the region’s shorter fields more easily than the midsize fleet does, which matters when a client wants Santa Monica on the Westside or Camarillo in Ventura County rather than the drive out to Van Nuys. Camarillo runs no takeoffs between midnight and 5am and is weight-limited, so we check the specific aircraft against the airport before quoting.

The Mustang is the slowest jet in the entry-level group at 340 knots, and on a Los Angeles to Las Vegas, NV hop that costs a few minutes rather than anything meaningful. Push the same aircraft out to Aspen, CO or Los Cabos, Mexico and the speed difference starts to show against a CJ3 or a Phenom 300.

Four seats is a real limit, not a soft one. Five passengers with ski bags for a Colorado trip is a conversation about a different aircraft, and we would rather have it before the quote than after.

Vetting Behind Every Trip

Every operator, aircraft, and crew goes through our internal due diligence before we present any options. Our internal standards meet or exceed what the FAA requires:

  • FAR Part 135 charter operators for traditional private aircraft, or FAR Part 121 for airliner-size and group trips (or the foreign equivalent on international legs)
  • Operator subscription to Wyvern and ARGUS reviewed where the operator participates; reports may be provided on request.
  • Pilot experience and operator incident history reviewed before we recommend an aircraft.
  • Fewer than 60 brokers worldwide hold Premium Wyvern Broker Member status, and Air Charter Advisors is one of them.

Charter Pricing Reference

Industry hourly rates for the Cessna Citation Mustang CE-510 run $2,800 to $4,000 per hour as of 7/2026. Actual quotes vary by operator, routing, positioning, and date.

The Mustang is usually the cheapest way to get a private cabin out of Los Angeles, and on a same-day Las Vegas, NV return it often prices close to a full-fare commercial group of four.
