The Gulfstream II is the aircraft that created the large-cabin business jet, and a small number still fly Los Angeles charter. Ten to fourteen passengers, 3,200 nautical miles, at the lowest hourly rate any Gulfstream will ever quote.
Grumman built the Gulfstream II from 1966 as the first purpose-built large-cabin business jet, with two Rolls-Royce Spey turbofans. The IIB and II-SP variants added the Gulfstream III wing and other improvements. Ten to fourteen seats, 461 knots and 3,200 nautical miles. Full specifications for the Gulfstream 2 / IIB / II-SP are published by Gulfstream Aerospace.

Why the Gulfstream 2 / IIB / II-SP Fits Los Angeles
Fourteen seats in a stand-up large cabin at this price is the only reason to charter this aircraft, and for the right Los Angeles group it is a good one. A large party to Las Vegas, NV or across to the Midwest gets a lot of cabin for the money.
The Spey engines are loud by any modern standard, and noise-sensitive airports around Los Angeles are where that becomes a practical problem rather than an aesthetic one. Van Nuys operates a jet noise curfew for louder aircraft between roughly 10pm and 7am, and Long Beach runs a noise-budget slot system, so late movements need checking early rather than assuming.
This is the oldest airframe in the heavy category by some margin, and it is where our operator due diligence earns its keep. Current FAR Part 135 certification, a reviewed safety and incident history, and crew confirmed experienced and current on the type, before it reaches a client.

Vetting Behind Every Trip
Every operator, aircraft, and crew goes through our internal due diligence before we present any options. Our internal standards meet or exceed what the FAA requires:
- FAR Part 135 charter operators for traditional private aircraft, or FAR Part 121 for airliner-size and group trips (or the foreign equivalent on international legs)
- Operator subscription to Wyvern and ARGUS reviewed where the operator participates; reports may be provided on request.
- Pilot experience and operator incident history reviewed before we recommend an aircraft.
- Fewer than 60 brokers worldwide hold Premium Wyvern Broker Member status, and Air Charter Advisors is one of them.
