Bell Long Ranger

The Bell Long Ranger is the stretched Jet Ranger, and around Los Angeles that stretch is the whole point. Six seats instead of four, a proper club layout in the back, and 120 knots of cruise for not much more money.

Bell lengthened the 206 fuselage to create the 206L Long Ranger, adding a row of seats and a rear cabin arranged as a facing club four. Six seats, 120 knots and roughly 324 nautical miles of range, with the same single-turbine simplicity as the aircraft it grew from.

Why the Bell Long Ranger Fits Los Angeles

The club-four layout is what separates this from a Jet Ranger for a Los Angeles business transfer. Four passengers facing each other can actually talk on the way from the Westside to Van Nuys, which on a short leg before a meeting is the reason to book a helicopter at all.

Six seats also makes it a workable family transfer, where the Jet Ranger runs out of room the moment there is luggage. Bags still need planning, and we confirm the configuration and baggage arrangement with the operator rather than promising space.

Range and speed are essentially the Jet Ranger’s, so this is still a short-leg aircraft around the basin and along the coast. For anything longer or overwater a twin like the Agusta 109 is the better recommendation.

Vetting Behind Every Trip

Every operator, aircraft, and crew goes through our internal due diligence before we present any options. Our internal standards meet or exceed what the FAA requires:

  • FAR Part 135 charter operators for traditional private aircraft, or FAR Part 121 for airliner-size and group trips (or the foreign equivalent on international legs)
  • Operator subscription to Wyvern and ARGUS reviewed where the operator participates; reports may be provided on request.
  • Pilot experience and operator incident history reviewed before we recommend an aircraft.
  • Fewer than 60 brokers worldwide hold Premium Wyvern Broker Member status, and Air Charter Advisors is one of them.

Charter Pricing Reference

Industry hourly rates for the Bell Long Ranger run $1,500 to $2,200 per hour as of 7/2026. Actual quotes vary by operator, routing, positioning, and date.

The Long Ranger quotes a step above the Jet Ranger, and for a Los Angeles group of four or five that step is usually cheaper than sending two aircraft.
