Global Express / XRS

The Global Express is the original of Bombardier’s ultra-long-range family and the value route into the category from Los Angeles. Thirteen to nineteen passengers, 6,700 nautical miles, and a hourly rate below the newer aircraft that grew out of it.

Bombardier launched the Global Express in the late 1990s as the first of the line, with two Rolls-Royce BR710 engines and a wide flat-floor cabin. Thirteen to nineteen seats, a cruise around Mach 0.85 and 6,700 nautical miles of range.

Why the Global Express Fits Los Angeles

Nineteen seats and 6,700 nautical miles at the bottom of this category’s pricing is a combination worth taking seriously for a Los Angeles group heading across the Pacific. On paper it out-ranges a Global 6000; in practice payload and winds decide it, and the operator plans the real trip.

The cabin is the same width and floor as the later Globals but the interior generation is older, so the finish, the windows and the cabin systems are behind a 6000 or a 5500. That gap is what the price difference reflects.

For a fully fueled intercontinental departure, Ontario’s 12,197-foot runway and 24-hour operation with no curfew make it a straightforward alternative to Los Angeles International when the client is out toward the Inland Empire.

Vetting Behind Every Trip

Every operator, aircraft, and crew goes through our internal due diligence before we present any options. Our internal standards meet or exceed what the FAA requires:

  • FAR Part 135 charter operators for traditional private aircraft, or FAR Part 121 for airliner-size and group trips (or the foreign equivalent on international legs)
  • Operator subscription to Wyvern and ARGUS reviewed where the operator participates; reports may be provided on request.
  • Pilot experience and operator incident history reviewed before we recommend an aircraft.
  • Fewer than 60 brokers worldwide hold Premium Wyvern Broker Member status, and Air Charter Advisors is one of them.
