Challenger 300

The Challenger 300 is the aircraft that defined the super-midsize category, and it is the one Los Angeles clients name more often than any other in it. Eight or nine seats in a genuinely wide cabin, 459 knots, 3,100 nautical miles, and a charter fleet deep enough to be available when you need it.

Bombardier designed the Challenger 300 as a clean-sheet super-midsize with a wide flat-floor cabin, two Honeywell HTF7000 engines and a stand-up interior seating eight to nine. Cruise is 459 knots and range is 3,100 nautical miles.

Why the Challenger 300 Fits Los Angeles

Cabin width is what people are buying. It is noticeably wider than a Citation X or a Learjet 60, and on a five-hour Los Angeles to East Coast leg with eight passengers that width is the entire difference in how the day feels on arrival.

Fleet depth is the second reason. When a Friday request comes in during awards season and Van Nuys is stripped of options, the Challenger 300 and its 350 successor are usually the aircraft still showing genuine availability in this category.

At 3,100 nautical miles it makes New York and Miami from Los Angeles with a working payload, and Hawaii is a question we put to the operator rather than answer from a table, since payload, winds and overwater equipment all decide it.

Vetting Behind Every Trip

Every operator, aircraft, and crew goes through our internal due diligence before we present any options. Our internal standards meet or exceed what the FAA requires:

  • FAR Part 135 charter operators for traditional private aircraft, or FAR Part 121 for airliner-size and group trips (or the foreign equivalent on international legs)
  • Operator subscription to Wyvern and ARGUS reviewed where the operator participates; reports may be provided on request.
  • Pilot experience and operator incident history reviewed before we recommend an aircraft.
  • Fewer than 60 brokers worldwide hold Premium Wyvern Broker Member status, and Air Charter Advisors is one of them.

Charter Pricing Reference

Industry hourly rates for the Challenger 300 run $6,000 to $8,000 per hour as of 7/2026. Actual quotes vary by operator, routing, positioning, and date.

The Challenger 300 quotes mid-band for super-midsize, and for eight passengers on a Los Angeles transcontinental leg it is normally the best balance of cabin and cost on the sheet.
