The Citation Ultra is the upgraded Citation V and a solid value pick in the Los Angeles light-jet market. Seven or eight seats, 427 knots and 1,710 nautical miles, with more thrust and better avionics than the aircraft it replaced.
Cessna re-engined the Citation V with Pratt and Whitney JT15D-5D turbofans and added an EFIS flight deck to create the Ultra, produced from 1994. Seven to eight seats, 427 knots and 1,710 nautical miles of range. Every Cessna Citation Ultra we arrange flies with an operator certificated under FAR Part 135, the FAA rules for on-demand, for-hire charter.

Why the Cessna Citation Ultra Fits Los Angeles
The Ultra sits between the Citation V and the Encore in both speed and price, which makes it the aircraft to ask about when the V is too slow for the trip and the Encore is more than the budget allows. On a Los Angeles to Denver run that thirty-knot gain over a Citation V is worth about twenty minutes.
Eight seats with luggage that genuinely fits is the reason the Citation V family keeps its Southern California following. A production crew out of Hollywood Burbank or a family to Los Cabos, Mexico both work without the baggage compromise a Beechjet would force.
These are 1990s airframes, so operator selection carries more weight than the specification sheet. Every Ultra we present flies with a current FAR Part 135 certificate holder, and we review their safety and incident history and confirm the crew are current on the type.

Vetting Behind Every Trip
Every operator, aircraft, and crew goes through our internal due diligence before we present any options. Our internal standards meet or exceed what the FAA requires:
- FAR Part 135 charter operators for traditional private aircraft, or FAR Part 121 for airliner-size and group trips (or the foreign equivalent on international legs)
- Operator subscription to Wyvern and ARGUS reviewed where the operator participates; reports may be provided on request.
- Pilot experience and operator incident history reviewed before we recommend an aircraft.
- Fewer than 60 brokers worldwide hold Premium Wyvern Broker Member status, and Air Charter Advisors is one of them.
