The Learjet 70 is the modernized Learjet 40, and it is one of the last Learjets Bombardier built. Six seats, 464 knots and 1,873 nautical miles out of Los Angeles, with a cabin and flight deck brought up to current standards.

Why the Learjet 70 Fits Los Angeles

The winglets and the newer engines improve climb and cruise efficiency, which on a fully fueled Los Angeles departure heading east over high terrain is exactly where a light jet works hardest. Range is 1,873 nautical miles, comfortably better than the Learjet 40 it grew from.

Six seats is the real limit and it is fewer than a Learjet 45 or a Citation CJ4 offers at a similar number. This aircraft is for a small group that wants to be somewhere quickly rather than a full cabin that wants to be comfortable.

Learjet production ended in 2021, so the 70 and 75 are the last of the line. The charter fleet is small and getting no larger, which makes short-notice availability in Southern California less certain than for a Citation.
