Gulfstream G200

The Gulfstream G200 brings a wide, tall cabin to the Los Angeles super-midsize market at a price that usually sits below the Challenger 300. Eight to ten seats, 459 knots and 3,400 nautical miles.

Israel Aerospace Industries developed the Galaxy, which Gulfstream marketed as the G200, with a wide flat-floor cabin, two Pratt and Whitney PW306A engines and seating for eight to ten. Cruise is 459 knots and range is 3,400 nautical miles. Full specifications for the Gulfstream G200 are published by Gulfstream Aerospace.

Why the Gulfstream G200 Fits Los Angeles

Ten seats in a wide cabin at this end of the market is the G200’s argument, and out of Los Angeles it wins the trips where the group is one or two people larger than a Challenger 300 would comfortably take. Range holds up at 3,400 nautical miles, so New York and Miami stay nonstop with a working load.

Cabin height is the detail that separates it from a Citation X. Standing upright and moving down a flat floor for five hours is not a small thing on a transcontinental leg, and for family travel out of Van Nuys it is usually decisive.

Runway requirements are longer than a Citation Sovereign’s, so the shorter Southern California fields are less freely available. From Van Nuys, Hollywood Burbank, Ontario or Los Angeles International that is not a constraint.

Vetting Behind Every Trip

Every operator, aircraft, and crew goes through our internal due diligence before we present any options. Our internal standards meet or exceed what the FAA requires:

  • FAR Part 135 charter operators for traditional private aircraft, or FAR Part 121 for airliner-size and group trips (or the foreign equivalent on international legs)
  • Operator subscription to Wyvern and ARGUS reviewed where the operator participates; reports may be provided on request.
  • Pilot experience and operator incident history reviewed before we recommend an aircraft.
  • Fewer than 60 brokers worldwide hold Premium Wyvern Broker Member status, and Air Charter Advisors is one of them.

Charter Pricing Reference

Industry hourly rates for the Gulfstream G200 run $6,000 to $7,800 per hour as of 7/2026. Actual quotes vary by operator, routing, positioning, and date.

The G200 quotes near the Challenger 300 and often a little below it, and for nine or ten passengers out of Los Angeles it is normally the better value of the two.
