British Aerospace stretched the Hawker 800 airframe and fitted Pratt and Whitney PW305 engines to create the Hawker 1000, adding cabin length and range. Why the Hawker 1000 Fits Los Angeles
This is the aircraft for a client who likes the Hawker cabin and needs the Hawker 900XP’s range with more room. The stretch adds usable cabin length, and from Los Angeles the 3,170-nautical-mile range covers the East Coast and the Caribbean with a working payload.
At 440 knots it is the slowest aircraft in this category, so on a Los Angeles to New York leg a Citation X will be on the ground well ahead. What the Hawker offers back is a wider, flatter cabin and a lower number.
Production numbers were small, so the charter fleet is thin. Short-notice Los Angeles availability is less certain than for a Challenger 300, and during awards season it is often not there at all.
