Hawker 4000

The Hawker 4000 was the most advanced aircraft Hawker Beechcraft built, a composite-fuselage super-midsize that still flies Los Angeles charter today. Eight or nine seats, 464 knots and 3,190 nautical miles.

Hawker Beechcraft built the 4000 with a carbon-composite fuselage, a swept wing, two Pratt and Whitney PW308A engines and a Honeywell Primus Epic flight deck. Eight to nine seats, 464 knots and 3,190 nautical miles of range. Every Hawker 4000 we arrange flies with an operator certificated under FAR Part 135, the FAA rules for on-demand, for-hire charter.

Why the Hawker 4000 Fits Los Angeles

The composite fuselage buys cabin width without the weight a metal structure would cost, so the 4000 is wider inside than a Hawker 1000 while flying further and faster. On a Los Angeles to East Coast leg with eight passengers that combination is genuinely competitive with a Challenger 300.

Production ended after a short run and Hawker Beechcraft’s restructuring, which left a small fleet and a specialized support picture. That is worth knowing because it shapes availability out of Southern California and it is part of what we look at when reviewing an operator’s history with the type.

For the trips this aircraft suits best, transcontinental business travel out of VanNuys or Hollywood Burbank with a full cabin, it is worth pricing directly against a Gulfstream G200 rather than assuming the newer design costs more.

Vetting Behind Every Trip

Every operator, aircraft, and crew goes through our internal due diligence before we present any options. Our internal standards meet or exceed what the FAA requires:

  • FAR Part 135 charter operators for traditional private aircraft, or FAR Part 121 for airliner-size and group trips (or the foreign equivalent on international legs)
  • Operator subscription to Wyvern and ARGUS reviewed where the operator participates; reports may be provided on request.
  • Pilot experience and operator incident history reviewed before we recommend an aircraft.
  • Fewer than 60 brokers worldwide hold Premium Wyvern Broker Member status, and Air Charter Advisors is one of them.
